Movie Differences Edit
Just like the movie, Ferris always breaks the fourth wall, is the popular guy on campus, and always goes out and rebels against Ed Rooney. However, in the sitcom version, he is a junior while Jeannie is a senior, while in the movie it is the other way around. He is also portrayed to be more attitudinal towards others. For instance, he disagreed with Sloan Peterson wanting to transfer to a dance school and when he was arguing with his grandmother Margaret when she found a list of cheat codes in his drawer.
Many watchers who have been fans of Ferris Bueller's Day Off and other critics have spoke against Charlie Schlatter's portrayal of Ferris. They have said that he was more snarkier and cockier than Matthew Broderick's Ferris, which was one of the main reasons why the show received so many negative reviews. Many fans who loved Broderick's portrayal were upset that their favorite, good-looking actor was replaced by an actor who was told to destroy a cardboard cutout of Broderick's Ferris, which showed Schlatter's Ferris' despisal towards the original, although it was never shown after it was shown in the pilot episode.
