The Ferris Bueller Expanded Universe Canon comes from a third timeline parallel to the timelines of the original movie and TV Show, mostly expressed through a series of novels written by Fraser Ives. Ives’ series picked up directly after the events of the movie in Ferris Bueller’s Spring Break, coming out in 1988. The novel is followed by Ferris Bueller's End Game (1990), which came out the same year the TV Show debuted. At the advent of the Ferris Bueller TV Show, Ives' canon was troublesomely brushed aside in hopes to franchise the new show. Overall, many of the original novels have been swept away completely, many being physically destroyed by Paramount Pictures. Ives' continued this canon in a series of comic books that went unpublished. Many of the plans for these comic books have surfaced over the decades since they were written, but nothing can be absolutely sure.

The Timeline of the Ferris Bueller Expanded Universe Canon is as follows:

  • Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986 Novelization)
  • Ferris Bueller's Spring Break (1988)
  • Ferris Bueller's End Game (1990)
  • Ferris Bueller: Prometheus (Unpublished Comic Book 1991)
  • Ferris Bueller: Rooney Returns (Unpublished Comic Book 1991)
  • Anyone, Bueller? (Unpublished Comic Book 1991)
