Ferris Bueller's Day Off is a novel based on the popular movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off. It explains much of the details in the movie, and even reveals new backstories and thoughts that were not mentioned.

It was published by Todd Strasser in 1986, the same year the movie came out.

Book blurb[]

"Everybody needs a day off - whether he's 55 or 5"
―The book

Ferris Bueller is a model for all those who take themself too seriously. Ferris knows the value of a day off, and just how to make the best of any situation.

His plan is fool proof. He'll pretend he's sick (and the whole city will be sure he's at death's door). He'll get his girlfriend out of school (using the famous "Dead relative" excuse). And they'll drive in style to every Chicago hot spot ( in his best friend's father's Ferrari, of course). It's not an ordinary day off, it's.. Ferris Bueller's day off.

Details Revealed[]

  • Ferris and Jeanie have two siblings that appear in the book but not in the film.
